We offer you the chance to explore the archaeological and historical delights of Pembrokeshire, West Wales in a wonderful week of guided tours, discussions and walking in a very stunning part of Wales only four minutes drive from the Cathedral City of St Davids, Pembrokeshire.

This fully inclusive break includes all food and accommodation and an optional daily programme put together by archaeologist John Wood. This break focuses on the medieval and later sites and buildings, and the southern side of Pembrokeshire, with the emphasis on relaxation and enjoyment, afterall, this is a holiday!

Your base will be Pen Rhiw, a former rectory (early Victorian) and wonderful old building in it's own right (see photo).

Your group will consider the impact of the Irish, the Vikings, Normans French and other groups on the area, and will take in a visit Tenby, Haverfordwest, and Pembroke.

However, you will not ignore the earlier archaeology, as this area too has evidence of settlement dating back some 6,000 years. Guided tours of local sites, as well as talks and discussions about the archaeology and the wider issues it raises will be included in the week.

To round off your stay you will hear of the latest news on archaeology projects and discoveries in the area!

There is also a free day for personal exploration and relaxation, enjoying the company of your fellow guests.
