Mixed experience with some fundamental flaws. The restaurant had made use of its small size and successfully turned 'small' into 'cosy' and the food was tasty, mostly fresh and well prepared. However, the experience was undermined by inadequate service. On arrival we received no welcome greeting or acknowledgement at all, the waitress deigning to make first contact and take our orders after over 20 minutes' wait.
The choice not to play any music was unusual, as was the absence of a light, hand dryer or towel in the bathroom. The food was fairly priced at 9.95 or 12.95 for main courses. However, not one vegetarian option was advertised on the menu or wall boards. The only vegetarian dish offered upon request was a filo parcel served with a rather pedestrian side salad. It was difficult to equate the meal with the 12.95 price tag, which was the same for a huge lamb steak.
At 10pm (on a Friday night) we were informed that the kitchen was closed. No offer of desert or coffee was made and it was another 20 minutes wait after the table was cleared before we got the bill, which we had to ask for. It's only fair to remark also that my friend Dave found a hair in his rice.
Whilst the restaurant was comfortable, I would find it difficult to recommend a visit Casablanca and do not intend to go back there myself. There are many superior restaurants in Aberystwyth.
